| The Worcestershire Cricket Board 50+ team (Over 50's) play competitive cricket in the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) 50+ Championship. This competition has been in place for over 20 years and provides competitive cricket for those club players of good standard and ex County players who wish to continue their cricket against old adversaries. The ECB 50+ Championship comprises 40 County and Minor County teams divided into 5 regions. Worcestershire is in the same region as Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Herefordshire and Wales. Each team play against each other once a season in the preliminary round with the fixture reversed the following year. The top three of each region progress to the Knock Out rounds until two finalists play for the winning trophy at the end of the season.
The competition has provided many club players the opportunity to play with their former heroes on the same cricket field. Such players as Rodney Cass (Essex & Worcestershire CCC), Roger Tolchard (Leicestershire CCC & England), Andy Murtagh (Hampshire CCC), Ted Hemsley (Worcestershire CCC) and Paul Pridgeon (Worcestershire CCC) have all represented the Worcestershire 50+ team in recent years. The WCB 50+ team have undertaken many overseas tours in recent years, representing the Worcestershire Cricket Board in Senior and Vintage cricket festivals in Barbados, West Indies and Perth, Western Australia. The team has also toured Sydney, Australia. Chile & Argentina, South America. Canada & USA and Cape Town, South Africa as well as Malta, Southern France and Majorca. For further details, anyone interested in joining a future touring party should contact the Team Manager - John Barrett. |

| The 60 plus team first took the field in 2006 with a programme of friendly matches and joined the Shepherd Neame Home Counties 60 plus Championship in 2007.
In 2008, they finished 6th of 10 counties in the Championship (now known as the Spitfire National 60 plus Cricket Championship) and in 2009, 6th out of 19 in the expanded competition. The Championship expanded to 21 counties in 2010 but with only an average playing performance Worcestershire only managed 11th place. In the new 2nd XI competition Worcestershire finished 5th winning the Plate Final against Norfolk. A further expansion of the Championship results in 26 counties entering in 2011 and the 2nd XI competition expanding to 11 teams. Worcestershire move into the new Midlands Group. The changes will result in 11 1stXI and 12 2nd XI Championship fixtures and at least 6 friendly fixtures. There is an embryo 70 plus competition with 5 teams in 2011. Most teams are combinations of Counties and Worcestershire are combining with Hampshire to field a team. Selection policy ensures that all members of the squad, if fit and available, get the opportunity to play during the season. We have 40 potential players on "the books" for 2011 but would welcome more. Anyone interested, who is a member of a Worcestershire club and/or born or resident in the County should contact Gerald |
This is a new team for 2011. We have formed a joint team with a few players from Hampshire.
