New Youth Club starts 26th January 2012
With almost 200 young people engaged in cricket at Worcester CC in the summer it occurred to us that as a cricket club we could offer our facilities all year round and at the same time appeal to those in the community who do not play cricket.
When Norton Community games people approached us offering to take on the running of the club with help from Pershore High school sixth formers it seemed an ideal solution. With the help of a grant from Rob Adams - Wychavon District Councillor and the Church who had a small pot of money out by we began frantic effort to beg and buy equipment. CRB checks and insurances were obtained, not to mention lots more behind the scenes work. As a result the project is ready to launch on 26th January 2012 when the Wychavon Youth bus will attend.
The whole project has been kick-started by Dennis Hodgkins with support from Worcester Cricket Club and Norton Community Games. Dennis will recruit a band of young people from the members who will be encouraged to take responsibility for the groups future management. We already offer music, dance, Wii games, table tennis, pool and lots of games. For those who want just “chill out” space and an iPod dock we have that too. When the light nights come back we have already geared up some outdoor fun and games with shooting and archery on the agenda for starters.
