The over 60s took to the field for the first time in 2006 with a programme of friendly matches which were completed without defeat.
In 2007 the team joined the Image Company Home Counties 60 plus Championship and finished 4 th out of 9 counties winning 4 of their 8 games including beating the eventual winners, Sussex .
Four of the 6 friendly games were won with 2 other games becoming victims to the appalling weather.
24 players represented the County. Any potential new players, who must be members of Worcestershire clubs, will be welcome and should contact Gerald.
Matches are played 45 overs aside with a maximum of 9 overs per bowler and rules very similar to the over 50s competition.
Selection policy ensures that all members of the squad, if fit and available, get the opportunity to play during the season.
At present all the players are still playing at 50 plus level, are past over 50s players and/or play for the Fossils.
For 2008 Hampshire are joining the League increasing the fixtures to 9 with a programme of 7 or 8 friendlies to be arranged as in 2006 and 2007. In addition the team will (as will the over 50s) be entering the International Vintage Cricket Festival (based at Stratford ) in August and will probable host overseas teams visiting for this festival before or after the Festival.
